KILTY & CO
Kilty & Co was founded by Eddie Kilty in 2018 as a catering and events company. He’s a rising star in the world of food, having headed up the AA Rosette kitchen at The Inn on the Lake, as well as working alongside a host of Michelin starred chefs including Tom Kerridge, Andrew Pern and Emily Watkins. Eddie usually spends summers sourcing local produce to cook for guests in some of Europe’s most beautiful private villas but with the onset of Covid-19, he found himself at home in Liverpool.
Eddie came to me with an idea of a chef-prepared, restaurant-quality home delivery service. He worked on the menus, had an idea of numbers and a space to prepare, but no real plan for how to market it. Together we developed ‘At Home with Kilty & Co’ to promote Eddie’s skilfully crafted menus which change each week and focus on seasonal, local produce. I formatted his weekly menus for social media, as well as writing and formatting his preparation instructions and an introduction which was emailed to each customer along with confirmation of their delivery.
The ‘At Home’ kit is freshly prepped and ready to heat and serve, allowing customers the opportunity to get creative with sauces, piping bags and some edible garnish. I suggested that Eddie should run a “best plate” competition with the winner receiving a free meal for two the following week. This encouraged more social media posts and feedback which he was able to share on his page. I also encouraged Eddie to engage with some local food bloggers, who sampled his food and posted about it on their own platforms.
As well as posting his menus and sharing customer images from the previous week, I prepared one of the meal kits in my own home and took a series of photographs which we used for social posts and future menus. I also created several customer review posts using images of Eddie preparing the food, alongside comments from happy customers. Eddie shared his own photos of his preparation on his social platforms to give his customers an insight into his cooking process.
With a longer-term goal of corporate and event catering in mind, I started sharing Eddie’s posts on LinkedIn to build his network and allow local businesses to see the quality and presentation of his food. I also set him up with his own social media management platform which allowed him to schedule posts in advance, meaning that he was able to keep content flowing even whilst he was busy preparing delicious dishes!
All of this increased his Instagram audience by 50% over a 2-month period, taking him to over 2,000followers. Eddie achieved over 17,000 impressions in one single week, with 500 interaction during the same time period. His views on LinkedIn increased by 900% within a week of posting regular content, which will no doubt set him up for success in his future endeavours.
