I was contacted by Foursquare group just as the hospitality industry was planning to reopen following the Covid-19 closure period. Foursquare was offering a ‘Pay What You Can’ compliance model to local restaurants, providing them with all of the tools they needed to reopen safely and carrying out an independent audit to ensure that everything was in place prior to opening.
As part of their certification process, Foursquare wanted to present each business who passed their audit with a ‘Covid Safe’ sticker to display in their window. I was asked to present these stickers to business owners and managers on behalf of Foursquare, and to take photos and videos to celebrate the safety of these compliant businesses. These were then used as content for Foursquare’s social media platforms, providing prospective customers with an insight into their services and current client base.
I was also able to use my own Liverpool Food Network platform to share this content by creating a story announcing which independent businesses had been successfully audited and certified as #CovidSafe. This helped to increase awareness of the scheme and build customer confidence in returning to restaurants.
I found myself becoming passionate about the work that Foursquare do, so much so that in 2021 I joined their business as a NED specialising in hospitality and customer focus.
